Frigates

They are usually smaller than destroyers. The firepower is also lower than them. Its main purpose is to escort carriers and other vessels and protect them from threats like submarines. In the game Frigates are strong against submarines but weak against destroyers.

Pros:

• Submarine killers.
• Fast.
• Great for farming tiles.
• Great for fast silver trading too.

Cons:

• Weak against destroyers.
• Low storage capacity.

Frigates Available:

Knox Class 

Tier I, is the first ship you will have. Made in the USA between 1965 - 1974 they were originally called Destroyer Escorts, however in 1975 they were redesignated as frigates. A total 46 Knox frigates served from 1969 until 1994. 

Oliver Hazard Perry Class

Tier IV is a class of guided-missile frigates named after the U.S. Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, the hero of the naval Battle of Lake Erie. Also known as the Perry or FFG-7 (commonly "fig seven") class, the warships were designed in the United States in the mid-1970s as general-purpose escort vessels inexpensive enough to be bought in large numbers to replace World War II-era destroyers and complement 1960s-era Knox-class frigates. A total 71 Oliver Hazard Perry frigates served from 1977 until present.

Duke Class

Tier VII is a class of frigates built for the United Kingdom's Royal Navy. The ships are named after British Dukes, thus leading to the class being commonly known as the Duke class. The first Type 23, HMS Norfolk, was commissioned in 1989, and the sixteenth, HMS St Albans was commissioned in June 2002. 16 of this frigates are serving since 1987.

Independence Class

Tier X is a class of littoral combat ships built for the United States Navy. Planning for a class of small, multipurpose warships to operate in the littoral zone began in the early 2000s. The Independence-class carries a default armament for self-defense, and command and control. Unlike traditional fighting ships with fixed armament such as guns and missiles, tailored mission modules can be configured for one mission package at a time. Modules may consist of manned aircraft, unmanned vehicles, off-board sensors, or mission-manning detachments. Independence Frigates also called "Indies" are one of the greatest ships in the game. It unlocks at level 28.

Nansen Class

The Fridtjof Nansen-class frigates are a class of frigates that are the main surface combatant units of the Royal Norwegian Navy. The ships are named after famous Norwegian explorers, with the lead ship of the class bearing the name of Fridtjof Nansen, the Norwegian scientist, explorer and humanitarian. Five ships were ordered from Spanish shipbuilder Bazan (now Navantia). The total projected cost for all five ships is 21 billion kr (about USD 2.54 billion). As of November 2018, four are in active service and one has sunk and has been decommissioned. This ship unlocks at level 31 and 1st Class Advanced Blueprints are needed to build it.
